Bigg Boss Bangla’s Second Week Watch Time Rises, JioStar Says
Bigg Boss Bangla gained viewing momentum after its August 30 launch, according to figures released by broadcaster JioStar on September 18. The company said cumulative watch time in the show’s second week was 2.7 times its first-week level, while its number of unique viewers was three times that of the leading Bengali shows on its JioHotstar service. These are the broadcaster’s own comparisons, not independently audited audience totals.
The season is hosted by Sourav Ganguly and airs on Star Jalsha as well as JioHotstar. Its format brings the familiar house-based contest and shifting alliances into a Bengali-language edition. The broadcaster says the streaming version can also be watched live around the clock, alongside the regular episodes.
The two reported measures answer different questions. Watch time describes the amount of viewing accumulated, so a longer viewing duration or a larger audience could raise it. Unique viewers counts distinct accounts or viewers under the platform’s measurement method. The company did not disclose absolute totals or the named Bengali comparison shows in this announcement, limiting conclusions about the scale of the gap.
Even with that caveat, the week-two increase is a useful early signal: a daily reality format needs viewers to return after the premiere as alliances and tasks develop. The local-language edition also tests whether a national entertainment franchise can build a distinct routine among Bengali audiences rather than depend only on its launch publicity. The next meaningful evidence will be sustained viewing in later weeks, which the current release does not establish.
