Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia play Maya and Anjali, childhood friends who join a competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team at UCLA and find that preparing for a US championship strains their bond. Hasan Minhaj appears as a professor and co-wrote the film with Prashanth Venkataramanujam; Lena Khan directed it. The creators have described friendship and self-acceptance as central to the story.

The film uses collegiate dance as a setting for a broader coming-of-age story.
