Jharkhand specialist doctor recruitment: Who qualifies and when applications open

Doctors seeking one of Jharkhand’s 306 contractual specialist medical officer posts must hold an MBBS degree, a postgraduate degree or diploma in an eligible specialty from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission, and valid registration with the appropriate medical council. Applicants must be 23 to 64 years old as of October 31, 2026. The two recruitment notices list the online application opening as 11:59 p.m. on October 8, 2026, and the closing time as 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026. Applications are not open yet.

The recruitment comprises two separate advertisements: 200 non-teaching specialist medical officer positions under Jharkhand’s health department and 106 specialist medical officer positions under the National Health Mission. Both use a facility-wise bidding process rather than a conventional fixed-pay application. Candidates should identify which advertisement contains their specialty and preferred hospital before completing the online form.

Which specialties are listed?

The 200-post non-teaching advertisement includes anaesthesia, dermatology, ear, nose and throat medicine, forensic science, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, pathology, medicine, psychiatry, radiology and surgery. The 106-post National Health Mission advertisement lists anaesthesia, dermatology, ear, nose and throat medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, general medicine, psychiatry, radiology and surgery.

That distinction matters. Paediatrics, pathology and forensic science appear in the qualification list for the non-teaching posts, but not in the National Health Mission list. Candidates should also check the facility-wise vacancy annexure: a specialty named in an advertisement does not necessarily have an opening at every hospital.

There is one discrepancy worth resolving before applying. The National Health Mission’s vacancy annexure shows two cardiologist positions at Sadar Hospital, Ranchi, but cardiology is absent from the qualification list on the first page of that advertisement. Cardiologists should seek clarification through official recruitment channels or check for a correction rather than assume that the listed vacancies establish eligibility.

How does the application work?

The notices direct eligible candidates to submit applications through Jharkhand’s designated online recruitment portal. They state that applications sent by post, email, hand delivery or any other method will not be considered. Candidates may bid for no more than three facilities in one application and must quote a separate proposed monthly remuneration for each. The quoted amount cannot exceed ₹3 lakh per month for a facility; that figure is a bid ceiling, not a guaranteed salary.

Selection is considered facility by facility. Subject to eligibility and the applicable rules, the lowest acceptable monthly bid is considered first. If eligible candidates quote the same amount, the notices set out tie-break criteria beginning with preference for a postgraduate degree over a diploma, followed by relevant experience. The posts are contractual, not permanent government appointments.

Before the window opens, applicants can assemble the documents specified in the notices: a recent photograph and signature, Class 10 and Class 12 records, educational qualifications, medical council registration, and experience records. Caste or disability certificates are required where a candidate claims the corresponding status. Candidates who are currently employed should read the notices’ instructions on acceptable experience documentation and the declaration of employment status.

Complete every mandatory field and review the selected facility and financial bid carefully before final submission. The notices say an application counts as submitted only when the portal displays a successful-submission status; incomplete forms may be rejected, and corrections are not ordinarily accepted afterward. Candidates should consult the relevant advertisement and any subsequent official correction for their specialty before submitting.
