Princess Kate Says She Misses Prince George and Can’t Wait for Half-Term Reunion

Princess Kate says she cannot wait to have all three of her children home for the school break, including Prince George, who began boarding at Eton College last month.

Speaking to people during a visit to Norfolk on Thursday, October 22, the Princess of Wales said her children would finish school the next day and that she was eager to see them together at home. A visitor who spoke with Kate said the princess had also mentioned missing George.

The comments offered a glimpse of how the family is adjusting to a new school routine. George, 13, started at Eton on September 8, while his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, attend Lambrook School. Kate did not announce a destination or any specific plans for their time off.

George’s first half-term break from Eton

Eton calls its half-term holiday “Long Leave.” Its published calendar lists the break from Friday, October 23, through Sunday, November 8. It is George’s first extended school break since starting at the boarding school, which was also attended by his father, Prince William.

Kate’s remarks were about looking forward to the children coming home, not a detailed update on George’s classes or how he is settling in. His day-to-day life at school remains private.

The conversation took place at Café 98, part of an East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices charity shop in Hoveton, Norfolk. Earlier that day, Kate visited The Treehouse, the charity’s children’s hospice in Ipswich, Suffolk. She opened the hospice in 2012 and has served as a royal patron of the organization.

Kate visits children’s hospice expansion

At The Treehouse, Kate saw work on an expansion designed to help the hospice support more families in Suffolk and North Essex. The project includes a larger hydrotherapy pool, new spaces for therapies and wellbeing, and a bigger activity area. The charity says construction began in March 2026.

The Norfolk stop brought a personal moment to a day focused on the charity’s work. For Kate and William, the coming break means time with George, Charlotte and Louis together after the family’s first weeks of George boarding at Eton. Beyond saying how much she was looking forward to having them home, the princess kept their holiday plans private.
