Seva First Innovation Challenge Opens Registration September 25 for Southern Students
Registration for the Seva First Innovation Challenge will open September 25 and run through October 24, India’s Ministry of Education announced on Thursday. The initiative is scheduled to be inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru on September 25, with a national finale planned for New Delhi from December 10 to 17.
The challenge is aimed at young people in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as well as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Puducherry. It asks participants to identify local problems and develop practical solutions that can be tested and improved.
Students can enter at Junior, Technical or Open levels. The Junior level covers classes 6 to 12; the Technical level is intended for students at industrial training institutes and polytechnics; and the Open level is for undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers developing prototypes or pilots.
The announced themes span sustainability, agriculture, health and inclusion, education and skills, and security. The ministry says participants may receive mentorship, laboratory and fabrication access, testing support and guidance on incubation and intellectual property. The Education Ministry, AICTE and UGC are jointly organising the challenge, with IISc serving as the nodal institute.
