Bigg Boss Telugu 10: Rohit Naidu’s Housemate Eviction Puts Audience Voting in Focus
Rohit Naidu Patnam’s exit from Bigg Boss Telugu 10 has turned a weekend elimination into a debate about audience voting. In the episode aired on Sunday, November 1, seven housemates voted to evict Rohit, while four voted against fellow contestant Ramakrishna, known as RK. Viewers did not decide that elimination through a public vote.
The result surprised supporters who had been voting to keep Rohit in the competition. It does not, however, show that he won the official public vote: no official vote totals establishing that have been released. The question raised by the episode is more specific—when the programme asks viewers to back contestants, when can a separate decision inside the house send one of them home?
What happened in the housemate vote
Host Nagarjuna put Rohit, RK and Swetha before the other contestants for the elimination decision. Seven chose Rohit and four chose RK; Swetha received no votes against her in that round. Nagarjuna then announced Rohit’s departure.
The housemates did not all give the same reason for their choices. Some criticised Rohit’s conduct and his clashes with others. Aman’s vote followed a strained exchange between them, while Thrigun raised remarks by Rohit that he considered offensive. The four contestants who voted against RK instead questioned his contribution to the game.
Those differences matter. The result was a majority decision under the episode’s rules, not a single shared judgment about Rohit—and it was not a measure of his popularity with viewers.
Why viewers are questioning the format
JioStar’s published voting terms for Season 10 describe a system in which viewers vote to save shortlisted contestants and the contestant with the fewest public votes is eliminated. The terms also give JioStar and Star Maa broad discretion to change the programme’s format and elimination process.
Rohit’s exit followed an in-house decision rather than the public-vote route described as the usual mechanism. That distinction is at the centre of the reaction. Fans can vote during a season and still see a contestant leave through a different twist. A housemate vote also brings relationships inside the house directly into the decision: contestants may weigh behaviour, friendships and rivalries alongside performance.
This was not Season 10’s first elimination decided by contestants. RJ Charan, Chaithra Rai and Shalini Damera Patel had also faced housemate-vote exits. Rohit’s departure has brought renewed attention to the practice because he had a visible base of supporters and his confrontations with other contestants were already a major part of the season.
Online fan polls and voting trends cannot settle the argument by showing where Rohit stood in the official count. They are separate from votes collected through the programme’s authorised channels. Nor does the housemate result, by itself, establish that the producers targeted Rohit or commoner contestants.
For the remaining housemates, the vote makes one consequence clear: support outside the house may not protect a contestant in every elimination round. For viewers, the next thing to watch is how the show presents future nominations and voting—particularly whether an exit will be decided by the public or by another decision inside the house.
