CERT-In Warns of AI-Assisted Cyberattacks Targeting Indian Financial Firms

India’s cybersecurity agency has warned of an active campaign targeting non-bank lenders, fintech companies and cryptocurrency exchanges, with attackers reportedly using AI-enabled tools.

The campaign, identified as Crafty Falcon, was described in an advisory from CERT-In. The warning names publicly available tools that can assist attackers, but does not publicly identify the people behind the campaign or confirm state sponsorship.

The distinction matters: a technical tool’s possible origin does not establish who conducted an intrusion. Financial institutions are being urged to strengthen detection and fix vulnerabilities comprehensively, particularly where holiday and weekend activity could slow incident response.
