Palo Alto Networks Launches AI-Driven Continuous Cybersecurity Testing Service

Palo Alto Networks has introduced a cybersecurity service designed to use artificial intelligence for continuous testing of corporate web applications, application programming interfaces and cloud infrastructure.

The service, called Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense, is intended to identify vulnerabilities and possible attack paths before they can be exploited. It combines several advanced AI models with open-weight systems, allowing security teams to select a model mix suited to their environment.

The company said the platform will conduct ongoing assessments rather than relying only on periodic penetration tests. Its findings are designed to include practical remediation guidance, such as suggested code-level fixes and virtual patches.

The launch reflects a broader change in cybersecurity as attackers and defenders both adopt generative AI. Automated tools can examine large and complex systems more quickly, but their recommendations still require governance, verification and oversight by security professionals.

The service is expected to be offered globally through annual subscriptions, with pricing linked to the combination of AI models selected by a customer. Palo Alto Networks has not presented the product as a replacement for an organisation’s wider security programme.

For enterprises, the practical question will be whether continuous AI-assisted testing can reduce the time between the discovery of a weakness and its correction without producing an unmanageable volume of false alerts.
