Nani’s The Paradise Nears ₹100 Crore Worldwide After Day 2

Nani’s The Paradise has moved close to the ₹100 crore mark at the worldwide box office after its second regular day in cinemas, giving the action drama a substantial launch despite signs of front-loaded demand.

Early trade estimates place the film’s cumulative worldwide gross at approximately ₹97.5 crore to ₹98.5 crore through Friday, September 25. The variation is mainly due to differences in overseas reporting, and the producers had not officially confirmed a final Day 2 total at the time of publication.

The cumulative figure includes paid previews held on Wednesday, September 23, followed by the main opening on Thursday and Friday’s business. On that basis, the film is estimated to have added roughly ₹21 crore to ₹22 crore worldwide on Friday. Its reported overseas total stands between ₹25 crore and ₹26 crore, while the India gross is estimated at ₹72.5 crore.

Friday drop puts weekend trend in focus

In India, The Paradise is estimated to have earned ₹14.9 crore net on Friday, compared with ₹34.65 crore net on Thursday. That represents a decline of about 57%, while overall occupancy reportedly fell from approximately 49% to 33%.

The drop is significant, but the comparison requires context. Thursday benefited from intense anticipation, fan-led shows and strong turnout in the Telugu states. Friday was a working day and followed the release-day rush. Saturday and Sunday will therefore offer a clearer indication of whether general audiences are embracing the film or whether its performance will remain heavily dependent on Nani’s core fan base.

Including the paid-preview business, the film’s India net total is estimated at ₹61.15 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana account for the overwhelming share of domestic revenue, with an estimated gross contribution of ₹56.25 crore. Karnataka has added about ₹7.35 crore, followed by the rest of India at ₹5.33 crore, Tamil Nadu at ₹3 crore and Kerala at roughly ₹57 lakh.

Telugu version drives collections

The language-wise data reinforces the film’s regional concentration. On Friday, the Telugu version reportedly collected ₹13.1 crore net in India, while Hindi contributed approximately ₹1.5 crore and Tamil about ₹30 lakh.

Across previews and the first two regular theatrical days, the Telugu version is estimated to have generated ₹56.1 crore net. Hindi stands at approximately ₹3.65 crore and Tamil at ₹1.4 crore. The non-Telugu figures remain comparatively modest, although they represent a broader opening footprint than several of Nani’s earlier releases.

Audience response remains divided

Directed by Srikanth Odela, The Paradise has drawn mixed-to-negative critical reviews. Nani’s physical transformation, intensity, screen presence and the film’s visual scale have received praise, along with selected action sequences and the interval section. Anirudh Ravichander’s songs and background score have also found supporters.

Criticism has focused on the screenplay, editing, excessive violence, uneven second half and limited emotional impact. Viewer reactions have followed a similar pattern: some audiences have responded enthusiastically to the theatrical presentation and mass moments, while others have described the narrative as familiar, overextended or emotionally distant.

Nani acknowledged the response in a public message, thanking audiences for their support and saying he had taken note of the flaws identified by critics and reviewers. That unusually direct reaction has added to the discussion surrounding the film’s long-term prospects.

Competition for screens

The film entered its first weekend alongside several alternatives. Avengers: Endgame Encore returned to Indian cinemas on September 25 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, creating competition for premium-format screens. Smaller regional releases, including Dorothy and Meesaya Murukku 2, are also in theatres, while the successful Hindi release Hanuman Ansh continues its run.

None of those titles appears to match The Paradise in overall Telugu-market scale, but premium-screen competition and mixed word of mouth could influence show allocation after the weekend.

Is a major opening weekend still likely?

With nearly ₹100 crore worldwide already reported, The Paradise is firmly on course for a major opening weekend in headline terms and one of the biggest starts of Nani’s career. A normal Saturday and Sunday improvement would take the film comfortably beyond the ₹100 crore milestone.

The more important question is whether the film can stabilise after its initial surge. Strong weekend growth would support a sustained theatrical run, while a muted response could leave it dependent on the extraordinary business generated during previews and opening day. For now, The Paradise has delivered the scale of opening expected from an event release, but its final commercial outcome remains unsettled.
