Shah Rukh Khan Leads Hurun’s 2026 Actor Ranking Despite 20% Wealth Drop

Shah Rukh Khan remains the highest-ranked Indian actor in the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026, although the research group’s estimate of his wealth has fallen sharply from the previous edition.

Hurun assigns Khan an estimated wealth of ₹10,000 crore in its latest list. That is ₹2,490 crore below the ₹12,490 crore attributed to him in 2025, representing a year-on-year decline of approximately 19.9%.

The fall follows a dramatic rise in the preceding year. Khan’s estimated wealth had climbed from ₹7,300 crore in 2024 to ₹12,490 crore in 2025, an increase of about 71%. Viewed across all three editions, the changing figures illustrate how rapidly rich-list valuations can move when they include stakes in privately held businesses, sports franchises and other assets without continuously quoted market prices.

How the leading actors rank

Among the actors identified in the 2026 ranking, Khan retains a substantial lead:

Position among listed actors Actor Hurun 2026 estimate
1 Shah Rukh Khan ₹10,000 crore
2 Amitabh Bachchan ₹4,000 crore
3 Salman Khan ₹3,000 crore
4 Hrithik Roshan ₹2,500 crore

Amitabh Bachchan’s estimated ₹4,000 crore places him second, but still ₹6,000 crore behind Khan. Salman Khan appears at ₹3,000 crore and is described as a new entrant among the prominent acting names, while Hrithik Roshan is valued at ₹2,500 crore.

Hrithik Roshan’s estimate increased from ₹2,160 crore in 2025, a gain of roughly 15.7%. Bachchan’s reported movement is considerably larger, rising from a 2025 estimate of ₹1,630 crore to ₹4,000 crore in the new edition.

Juhi Chawla and Karan Johar, who appeared in the 2025 edition with estimates of ₹7,790 crore and ₹1,880 crore respectively, are not among the entertainment names highlighted in the 2026 ranking. Their absence should not automatically be interpreted as proof that their wealth fell below a particular level. Classification decisions, family grouping, available ownership information and changes in how assets are attributed can all affect who appears in a rich-list category.

What may be included in Khan’s estimate

Khan’s position is not based only on acting fees or film earnings. Hurun associates his fortune with business interests that include Red Chillies Entertainment and Knight Riders Sports, alongside other investments and assets considered by its researchers.

This makes the figure sensitive to assumptions about company value. A change in the estimated worth of an entertainment company or sports franchise can produce a large movement in personal wealth on paper even if no asset has been sold and no equivalent amount of cash has entered or left the individual’s accounts.

How Hurun calculates wealth

The 2026 India list uses a wealth snapshot dated August 24, 2026. Publicly traded holdings can generally be valued using market prices around the cut-off date. For unlisted companies, Hurun may consider recent investment rounds or compare the business with listed peers using measures such as earnings, sales and enterprise-value multiples.

Those methods are common valuation tools, but they require judgement. Private companies do not have a daily share price, while ownership structures, debt, taxes, trusts and family holdings may not be fully visible from public information. Brand value and the commercial potential of intellectual property can be especially difficult to separate from company value.

An estimate, not an audited balance sheet

The ₹10,000 crore number should therefore be described as Hurun’s estimate, not as a verified statement of Khan’s exact net worth. It is not equivalent to an audited, consolidated disclosure covering every personal asset and liability.

Rich lists are useful for comparing the scale and direction of prominent fortunes under a consistent research framework. They are less suited to proving the precise amount an individual owns. Khan’s 2026 position supports the conclusion that Hurun continues to regard him as India’s wealthiest actor, but the reported decline is best understood as a change in valuation rather than confirmed evidence of a ₹2,490 crore cash loss.
