India–Mongolia nonstop flights begin, but travelers should check dates before booking

Travel between India and Mongolia has a new nonstop option. Mongolian carrier Hunnu Air began scheduled flights between New Delhi and Ulaanbaatar on Monday, September 28, 2026, replacing a connection through another city with a single flight for passengers whose plans fit its weekly timetable.

The route links Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, coded DEL, with Chinggis Khaan International Airport serving Ulaanbaatar, coded UBN. It is a service between the two capitals, not a network of direct flights from other Indian cities. Travelers starting elsewhere in India will still need to arrange a journey to Delhi.

When do the flights operate?

Hunnu Air’s published timetable lists one flight in each direction on Mondays. Flight MR301 is scheduled to leave Ulaanbaatar at 3:30 a.m. and arrive in Delhi at 7:00 a.m. Flight MR302 is scheduled to leave Delhi at 8:00 a.m. and arrive in Ulaanbaatar at 4:00 p.m. All times are local. The airline lists the timetable as effective from September 28, 2026, through March 27, 2027, and warns that schedules can change without notice.

Because the cities are in different time zones, the clock times do not show the time spent in the air. The published schedule works out to roughly six hours from Ulaanbaatar to Delhi and five and a half hours in the other direction. That is substantially shorter than itineraries involving a transfer, although the saving on any particular trip depends on the connecting flights available that day.

The inaugural service did not follow every time printed in the standing timetable: the first arrival in Delhi was recorded at about 7:20 a.m. on September 28, and the first Delhi departure was reported later that afternoon. Passengers should therefore use the time on their confirmed booking, rather than the launch-day movements, to plan airport transfers.

What does a ticket cost?

Hunnu Air advertised a $380 one-way introductory fare for New Delhi to Ulaanbaatar around the launch. That was a promotion, not a fixed price for every Monday flight. The airline’s public timetable does not establish how many seats remain at that fare or what a ticket will cost on a future date. A return ticket may also price differently from two advertised one-way fares.

Before paying, search for the exact travel dates and compare the final amount, including taxes, baggage and any applicable booking charges. Check the fare rules as well: the cheapest available ticket may have different conditions for changes or refunds. If a booking site shows a different departure day or time from Hunnu Air’s Monday timetable, confirm the flight number and operating date with the airline before treating the listing as a nonstop option.

What should travelers check before making plans?

The limited frequency is the biggest practical constraint. Missing a Monday departure could mean waiting a week for the next scheduled nonstop flight, so a time-sensitive trip may need a connecting alternative. Someone leaving Delhi on a Monday and seeking a nonstop flight back should also check the following Monday’s early-morning arrival: the published timetable does not provide a later return flight during the intervening week.

Travelers should search using the airport codes DEL and UBN, verify that Hunnu Air is operating the flight, and check whether seats are actually offered on their chosen date. A route appearing on an airline’s timetable does not, by itself, guarantee an available seat or an unchanged departure time.

Entry requirements deserve a separate check before purchase. Mongolia lists India among the countries eligible for its e-visa system, but eligibility to apply should not be mistaken for automatic visa-free entry. Requirements depend on nationality, passport and purpose of travel. Passengers traveling to India should likewise confirm the entry rules that apply to their own documents. Checking those details, along with baggage limits and the airline’s latest schedule, is particularly important when a trip depends on a once-weekly flight.
