Bypoll results 2026: Who is leading in Nagaon, Nandigram and the other four seats?

Who is leading in the bypoll results today? In the Election Commission’s figures available by 9:31 a.m. IST on October 9, 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads the Nagaon Lok Sabha contest in Assam, while the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) leads the Thattanchavady Assembly contest in Puducherry. Counting is under way in all six constituencies, but the commission has not yet posted candidate-wise leads for the other four seats. No winner has been declared in these early figures.

The latest figures displayed for the two reported leads carry different update times: 9:18 a.m. for Nagaon and 9:27 a.m. for Thattanchavady. They are snapshots of an unfinished count, not final results.

Six-seat bypoll results tracker

Dharapuram, Assembly Tamil Nadu Counting in progress; no official candidate-wise lead posted yet.
Thattanchavady, Assembly Puducherry AINRC’s Ashok Anand leads with 3,209 votes, ahead of Congress’s E. Vinayagam by 1,987 after one of four EVM rounds.

Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll result: BJP ahead in early figures

Devasish Sharma has 4,761 votes to 1,385 for Sibamoni Bora in the commission’s Nagaon figures, putting the BJP candidate 3,376 votes ahead. Mohammed Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front has 902 votes at the same update. The commission has not displayed an EVM round count alongside those Nagaon totals, so the figures should not be described as a completed round-wise result.

The Nagaon parliamentary seat became vacant after Pradyut Bordoloi resigned. A lead at this stage does not establish who will win the Lok Sabha bypoll; the margin can change as more votes are counted.

Nandigram and Rejinagar bypoll results: Official leads still awaited

For readers following the Nandigram bypoll result, the important distinction is between an early report and a posted count. Reports from postal-ballot counting indicated that BJP candidates were ahead in both Nandigram and Rejinagar, but the Election Commission’s constituency tracker had not posted candidate-wise figures for either seat by 9:31 a.m. IST. It would be premature to give an official margin or call either race.

Nandigram’s bypoll followed Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation from the Assembly seat; Rejinagar’s followed Humayun Kabir’s resignation. Both are among the five Assembly contests being counted on Friday.

Tamil Nadu bypoll results 2026 and Puducherry

In Tamil Nadu, the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly counts are in progress, but the commission has not yet published a candidate-wise lead for either constituency. Early statewide descriptions of which party is ahead should not be mistaken for verified vote totals in both seats.

Puducherry has the clearest Assembly round-wise update so far. After the first of four EVM rounds in Thattanchavady, Ashok Anand has 3,209 votes and E. Vinayagam has 1,222. The 1,987-vote AINRC lead remains provisional, with three EVM rounds still to be reflected in that round indicator.

Voting across the six bypolls took place on October 6, with counting scheduled for October 9. The Election Commission says its live figures are entered from counting centres and that final constituency data will be shared separately. Readers should treat every lead and margin here as time-specific until counting is complete.
