Pakistan vs England live ODI score: England close in with Pakistan 154-9 in Lahore

England were one wicket from victory against Pakistan in the ODI tri-series match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday, October 25. Chasing 242, Pakistan were 154-9 after 35 overs, still needing 88 runs. The match had not finished at the time of this update, so the tri-series standings had not yet changed.

England’s bowlers turned the contest around after Ben Duckett’s century helped them reach 241 all out in 46.4 overs. Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi had earlier taken 4-36, but his side’s chase faltered as England took wickets throughout the innings.

Pakistan chose to field and made an immediate impact. Shaheen dismissed Tom Banton and Joe Root early, and England slipped to 19-3 when captain Harry Brook was run out. Jordan Cox then fell with the score on 52.

Duckett held the innings together, making 105 from 111 balls. Sam Curran contributed 42, while Gus Atkinson finished unbeaten on 36 as England recovered to set Pakistan a target of 242.

Pakistan also lost early wickets. Gus Atkinson removed Fakhar Zaman and bowled Babar Azam for 10, while ODI debutant Henry Crocombe dismissed Saim Ayub. Saad Baig made 32, but his departure left Pakistan 74-4.

Jamie Overton took three wickets during the chase, including Baig and Arafat Minhas. Liam Dawson dismissed Hasan Nawaz and Salman Agha, before Will Jacks bowled Razaullah to leave Pakistan 154-9. Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf were the last pair at the crease after 35 overs.

What the result would mean for the tri-series table

Before Sunday’s match, Pakistan led the three-team standings with four points from two wins. Sri Lanka had two points, while England had none after losing their first two matches.

An England win would give them their first two points and keep them in contention for the October 31 final. A Pakistan win would take the hosts to six points and secure their place in that match. Neither outcome was confirmed while the Lahore ODI remained in progress.

Pakistan are scheduled to face Sri Lanka in Lahore on October 27. England’s remaining group match is against Sri Lanka at the same ground on October 29. The top two teams advance to the final.
