Flydubai suspends Israel flights: What to check about cancellations and rebooking
Flydubai has suspended flights to and from Israel while an investigation continues into an incident aboard its September 30 Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight. The airline has not announced a date for service to resume. If you have a booking, check whether your specific flight has been cancelled or changed, review any connections and confirm your rebooking or reimbursement options before traveling to the airport.
What Flydubai announced
The airline said the suspension was made in coordination with the relevant authorities and would be reviewed as more information becomes available. It said it was working to support affected passengers and arrange alternatives where possible. The announcement applies to flights in both directions; it does not, by itself, tell each traveler whether their booking has been cancelled, moved or left awaiting an update.
Flydubai identified the flight at the center of the investigation as FZ1073, which departed Dubai for Tel Aviv on September 30 and diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The airline said an altercation occurred in the flight deck, that crew secured the aircraft and landed it safely, and that everyone aboard was accounted for. Flydubai said the reasons and motives remained unknown and subject to investigation. Claims about what any individual intended should not be treated as established findings.
Flydubai said the incident did not affect its other scheduled operations across the network. That makes it especially important for travelers with multi-leg itineraries to check each segment rather than assume an entire journey has been cancelled.
Check the booking, not just the route
Start with Flydubai’s flight-status and Manage Booking services. Use your booking reference and surname to see what is recorded for your journey, and check the airline’s operational notices again before leaving for the airport. Make sure the email address and phone number on the reservation are current: Flydubai says it uses those details to send cancellation and schedule-change notifications.
If your trip includes a connection, inspect the full itinerary. A flight on another part of Flydubai’s network may still operate even when the Israel segment cannot. Check whether the flights are on one booking or on separate tickets, and ask the ticket issuer what happens to any remaining or return sectors before accepting a change. Keep the cancellation notice, booking confirmation and receipts for expenses while you sort out the arrangements.
Passengers ticketed through Emirates should check with Emirates or the travel agent that issued the ticket, not assume Flydubai can change an Emirates-issued reservation directly. Emirates has separately suspended its codeshare operations with Flydubai to and from Tel Aviv until further notice. It says passengers whose final destination is Tel Aviv will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin and advises affected customers to keep their contact details updated.
What rebooking or reimbursement may involve
Under Flydubai’s published disruption policy, a passenger whose flight is cancelled can generally rebook on another Flydubai flight within 30 days before or after the original travel date without an additional charge, or take the next available scheduled flight to the same destination. Availability matters while the Israel suspension remains in place. Moving travel beyond that 30-day window does not carry a rebooking fee under the policy, but a fare difference may apply.
Flydubai’s general policy says an eligible passenger who chooses not to travel may receive the value of unused travel as a voucher. That is not necessarily the end of the question for an Israel itinerary. The airline’s separate notice of rights for flights arriving in or departing from Israel describes circumstances in which passengers can choose reimbursement or rerouting under Israel’s Aviation Services Law. The applicable option depends on the booking and disruption, so ask the ticket issuer to explain what is available before agreeing to a voucher.
If a travel agent or partner airline issued the ticket, Flydubai directs passengers to that issuer for rebooking or refund assistance. Travelers who booked directly can review the options shown in Manage Booking and contact Flydubai if the available choices do not resolve their plans. Until a replacement journey is confirmed, do not rely on a previously issued itinerary or a flight displayed for sale as proof that the suspended service will operate.
